Not “Just Cleaners”: A Message From the Heart

I want to take a few minutes to share something that’s been on my heart for a long time.
When you walk into a building — a childcare center, a church, your workplace — and it feels clean, welcoming, and fresh, have you ever stopped to think about why it feels that way? Have you ever thought about who made it feel that way?
Because here’s the truth: clean buildings don’t just happen.
Trash doesn’t take itself out. Toilets don’t scrub themselves. Floors don’t magically stay shiny. And yet, we all show up each day expecting our spaces to be clean and safe — as if it’s just a given.
But it’s not a given. It’s the result of people.
And I want to talk about those people today — our people — the ones who quietly make the world a better place every single night.
These Are Not “Just Cleaners”
Sometimes when people think of janitors, custodians, or cleaners, they picture “the help.”
Someone there to pick up after everyone else. Someone invisible, or worse, someone “below” them.
But that is not who our team is.
Our staff is made up of professionals — people who work hard every single day and then choose to show up again at night or early in the morning to keep businesses, childcare centers, and churches clean.
These are people with full-time jobs, degrees, and careers.
These are single moms, working that extra shift so their kids can have what they need.
These are people fighting battles you can’t see — someone who just lost a loved one, just lost a job, just got a scary diagnosis — but who still show up to do the work that keeps your world running.
And let’s be honest: right now, everything is expensive. Groceries, gas, rent — it all keeps climbing. Sometimes that second job isn’t just nice to have — it’s the difference between making it or not.
We Clean the Places That Matter Most
Our work takes us into some of the most important spaces in people’s lives:
Childcare Centers – The places where little ones play, learn, and grow. Parents trust that these spaces are safe, healthy, and clean — and that trust is something we take seriously. Our job is to make sure classrooms, bathrooms, and play areas are spotless so kids can explore, play, and thrive without worry.
Churches – Not just on Sundays, but multiple times a week. Many of the churches we serve are filled with life — Bible studies, youth groups, community events, outreach programs, weddings, funerals. We clean the pews where families sit together, the floors where children run after service, the fellowship halls where meals are shared. These spaces are constantly in use, and our team makes sure they’re always ready for the next gathering.
Commercial Businesses – The offices where deals are made, where employees spend the bulk of their days, where customers form first impressions. When those spaces are clean, they communicate care, professionalism, and respect.
Our team shows up in all of these places, often late at night, often when no one else is around — and they leave them ready for the next day.
Your Community, Our Community
It’s important to remember that the people doing this work aren’t strangers.
They are someone’s mom, dad, sister, brother, daughter, or son.
They are someone’s best friend, neighbor, or church member.
They go to the same grocery stores you do. They cheer for the same local teams. They are raising their families here, just like you.
Our staff isn’t “outside” the world we clean — they are part of it. They are investing their time and effort into the very same spaces where they shop, worship, work, and play.
Don’t Judge by What You See
And one more thing that needs to be said: you can’t always tell someone’s story by looking at them.
Maybe the person emptying your trash has tattoos. Maybe the person mopping the floor has piercings or colorful hair. Maybe their work clothes are worn from long hours.
But none of those things tell you about their heart, their skills, their professionalism, or the obstacles they’ve overcome to be where they are today.
We should never assume someone’s value or worth based on how they look. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
Imagine if They Didn’t Show Up
Now, imagine for a moment what would happen if they didn’t.
If no one showed up to clean your childcare center, would you feel safe dropping off your child?
If no one showed up to clean your church during the week, would you feel as peaceful walking in on Sunday morning?
If no one showed up to clean your office, how productive would you really be working in a dusty, trash-filled space?
Their work might happen quietly in the background, but its impact is front and center in your daily life.
A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way
So, here’s what I’m asking:
Next time you see one of our staff members — or any cleaning professional — pause for just a moment. Look them in the eye. Say hello. Thank them. Acknowledge them.
Because these are not “less than” people.
They are the reason your space is clean, safe, and ready for you.
They are the reason you feel comfortable walking in the door.
And a little kindness, a little recognition, can make all the difference.
At AB Clean, You’ll Always Be Valued
At AB Clean, we are proud of the work we do, and we are even prouder of the people who do it. We value them not just as employees, but as people — as parents, neighbors, friends, and community members.
And we extend that same respect to you. Whether you’re a client, a partner, or someone considering joining our team, know this:
With AB Clean, you will always be valued and respected.
Our mission goes beyond cleaning buildings. We are here to support our people, to serve our community, and to create spaces where everyone feels cared for.
Because when we say we care about clean — what we really mean is we care about people.
